Linking a New WhatsApp Number: Waiting Time Explained

Linking a New WhatsApp Number: Waiting Time Explained

What Is This?

You have a new WhatsApp Business number and want to link it to Pixalink. Our guides do not ask you to wait any set number of days before you link it.

The waiting that matters comes after linking. You send a little at first, then more over about 4 weeks. This slow start is called warming up, and it lowers the risk of a block.

How It Works

Linking and sending are two different things.

  • Linking means scanning the QR code on Settings → Configurations. Pixalink then joins your WhatsApp as a linked device, the same way WhatsApp Web does.
  • Sending is what WhatsApp watches. Point, voucher and booking messages go out from your number too, not just broadcasts.

So the clock that counts is how much your number sends, not the day you scan.

Warm-up at a glance Four stages, from preparing the number before linking to full sending from week 5. WARM-UP AT A GLANCE Before you link Get ready Add profile picture, name and status Ask regulars to save the number Week 1 Start small Up to 96 a day Safe Mode, 5 minute gap Weekends off Weeks 2 to 4 Grow slowly A little more each week Pick a shorter gap Week 5 on Full sending 1 minute gap (most 480 a day) Link whenever you are ready. Then grow your sending over about 4 weeks.

When you send a broadcast in Safe Mode, the gap you pick sets the most that broadcast can send in a day. Safe Mode sends between 9am and 5pm.

Interval between messages Most messages a day
1 minute 480
2 minutes 240
4 minutes 120
5 minutes 96
10 minutes 48
15 minutes 32

Use a wide gap in week 1 and pick a shorter one as the weeks go by. Send your first messages to your most loyal customers. They are the least likely to report you.

Real-Life Example

Aishah is opening a bubble tea shop in Ipoh and buys a fresh number for it. She asks how many days she should wait before linking it. There is no set wait, so she fills in the shop profile and links the number on day one. When she records points at the counter, customers get a points message from her number. Her first broadcast uses Safe Mode with a 5 minute gap, sent to 90 regulars. Over the next four weeks she picks a shorter gap step by step. By week five she sends to her full list at a 1 minute gap.

Good to Know

  • Leave weekends off while you warm up. Keep Include weekends switched off so your broadcasts rest on weekends.
  • Busy days count too. Point and voucher messages are not part of the daily limits shown for a broadcast. On a busy sales day, pick a wider gap.
  • Coming back after a break? If the number has not sent anything for 30 days or more, warm it up again for 1 to 2 weeks.
  • Reports matter more than speed. A handful of people tapping Report can still stop a warmed-up number.
  • Official WhatsApp from Meta has no QR code, so there is nothing to link this way.
